Globe 24-7 in partnership with a key client in Limpopo (based at the Venetia mine site), a manufacturer and supplier of equipment for underground mining and tunnel construction are working together to source experienced and qualified talent to join their team.
The Role
In this role, the incumbent will be responsible for assisting senior technicians and engineers in installing, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting their equipment and machinery. As a Junior Service Technician, you will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced professionals, gain hands-on experience, and develop your technical skills in the mining and tunneling industry.
The Responsibilities
- Assist senior technicians and engineers in installing, commissioning, and maintaining the clients equipment and machinery.
- Conduct routine inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs of equipment on-site, ensuring optimal performance and minimizing downtime.
- Collaborate with the service team to diagnose and resolve technical issues, utilizing technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks according to established schedules and guidelines.
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines while working in various underground mining and tunneling environments.
- Document service activities, including maintenance records, inspection reports, and parts usage, accurately and in a timely manner.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing customer inquiries, resolving concerns, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, sales, and logistics, to facilitate effective communication and coordination.
- Stay updated with product knowledge and industry trends through training programs and self-directed learning.
- Must be from the area.
- Relevant qualification such as a trade test/diesel mechanic etc.
- Experience in mining or heavy equipment maintenance and repair.
- Willingness to work in a remote location and to travel as required.
- Valid driver's license.
- Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical principles.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-oriented mindset.
- Adherence to safety protocols and guidelines, with a strong awareness of potential hazards.
