Key Account Executive

Position Overview:

The Retail industry is a market segment CHEP is targeting to deliver the growth required to meet future growth objectives within SSA.

CHEPs focus on the Retail industry with its product and service offering necessitates the implementation of a Retail service structure to support the new and existing business secured in this industry.

The Key Account Executive will:
  • be responsible for the overall service delivery, customer support and relationship management of CHEPs customers in the Gauteng Region.
  • be required to ensure service level KPIs are met and revenue generation from these customers is sustained and grows in accordance with the budgeted requirements.
  • engage with customers across various functions and multiple levels within their organisations within the Gauteng Region
  • manage the portfolio, implement action plans and objectives ensuring that revenue, volume, profitability, and customer service objectives are achieved
  • initiate and lead in the development process of identified opportunities
  • identify opportunities for growth within the region to ensure growth for CHEP and the Retail Division
Key Focus Areas:

Customer Relations Management:
  • Liaise and face-to-face meetings with customer stakeholders as defined by the customer profile.
  • Assisting in and conducting rate negotiations when and where necessary.
  • Conducting, or where relevant, co-ordinating in conjunction with the Hire Stock Audit team and CCT, system control audits on customers identified for such audits.
  • Provide feedback to customer senior management on control system audits, pool usage statistics, and handle business related problems. Agree and implement action plans.
  • Enter into written correspondence with customer senior management to confirm all salient points discussed at regular meetings.
  • Enter into discussions to resolve any disputes promptly, in a manner acceptable to both parties.
  • Solution-selling of value-adding services and other solutions as developed within CHEP and Retail.
  • Focus on reducing excessive wear and tear.
New and existing business development by:
  • Actively identify new business opportunities in all market sectors.
  • Ensure that relevant prospect information is obtained and conveyed to the business.
  • Implement strategies and plans for development of new business / growth opportunities.
  • Participate, lead or support new business projects.
Responsible for:
  • identifying opportunities for Last Mile or In-Store solutions.
  • adopting a Value Chain approach with all customers in order to add value and drive efficiencies in the customers business.
  • understanding all the relevant business processes that are in place and adhering to these processes.
  • ensuring a detailed, in depth knowledge of the Customer business solution that is implemented.
  • managing debtors-ageing and DSO on all accounts in allocated portfolio.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Matric and Tertiary Qualification
  • 3 - 5 years' experience in a Customer-Facing role
  • Proven ability to negotiate at senior level within the Retail environment
  • Background in Transport, Logistics, Supply Chain is advantageous
