Laboratory Analyst (6 Month Contract)

Our client in the agricultural industry based in Port Elizabeth (Coega) is currently looking to employ a Laboratory Analyst. This will be a contract position.

Main Purpose Of The Position
  • Ensure the quality standards of the different finished and semi-finished products, by complying with process control, based on control letters and customer specifications, respecting safety, and environmental guidelines. Carry out tours focused on food safety and hygiene.
Responsibilities
  • Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment (Chromatographs, Titrino, polarimeters, etc.), and keep the records of that.
  • Prepare solutions for use in analyses, patterns, and others. Checks, maintains, and prepares drugs for use in the laboratory.
  • Carry out control of the process and of finished products of oils and derivatives.
  • Ensure compliance with internal work standards through training staff in line control letters, compliance with CIP processes, BPM verification and regulatory requirements.
  • Report internal and external results to internal customers, updating follow-up sheets in the database for the different products.
  • Quality control in centrifuge processes.
  • Approve and release batches of finished products for packaging, performing final inspection for approval in the system.
  • Update analysis targets according to customer specifications.
  • Follow and optimize the stock/ consumption of laboratory supplies.
  • Maintain 5s of the sector during the shift, comply with schedule and cleaning procedures.
  • Compliance with internal standards, GMP and GLP.
  • Contribute to the achievement of established objectives (production volume, efficiencies, savings, etc.).
  • Ensure the implementation, development, and compliance of the defined methodology.
  • Ensure that activities within the plant are carried out under the Safety, Health and Hygiene, Environment and Quality standards.
  • Ensure that the operation achieves the desired results.
  • Drive the culture of continuous improvement throughout the plant.
  • Raise awareness and prevent accidents.
  • Reduce the environmental impact caused by our operation.
  • Ensure compliance with the quality standards established by our customers.
Requirements
  • Experience in basic handling of laboratory instruments.
  • Experience in Quality Control laboratories.
  • Higher education as a chemical technician (University Technician is better).
