Job Overview
The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for managing shipments from origin to final destination as instructed by the trade desks. This includes coordinating freight forwarding, consolidations, documentation, and ensuring compliance with import regulations, certification, and pre-shipment inspections. The role supports trade desks by providing costed logistical solutions and ensuring shipments are executed efficiently. The Logistics Coordinator works closely with procurement offices in Africa and Europe, and with local teams in subsidiary offices (Central & Southern African countries) to drive the shipment process.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate all logistics activities from shipment booking to delivery at destination.
- Prepare and verify all required export and import documentation including inspection and certification requirements.
- Ensure compliance with importation and exportation regulations across all operating regions.
- Work with freight forwarders, inspection agencies, and clearing agents to ensure timely and compliant shipment processing.
- Investigate and present costed logistical solutions to trade desks based on shipment requirements and client needs.
- Monitor shipment progress and provide proactive, timely updates to trade desks and clients including immediate notification of delays or disruptions and daily or milestone-based progress reports as required.
- Assist in arranging freight consolidations where applicable to optimize cost and efficiency.
- Engage with subsidiary and procurement offices to coordinate and drive the shipment process with support from local teams.
- Maintain accurate and organized shipment files and documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
- Comprehensive understanding of global shipping and African import procedures.
- Strong communication and coordination abilities across international offices and partners.
- Ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously with high attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and logistics tracking systems.
