Aon South Africa is recruiting a Portfolio Screening Consultant in our Personal Lines department based, on a hybrid basis, from our Head Office in Sandton. The role of a Portfolio Screening Consultant is to support the Affinity division in sustaining profitability of Binder portfolios, by monitoring, analyzing and applying actions to multi-claimant policies in order to protect rates and excesses for the entire portfolio.

What The Day Will Look Like

Responsible for analyzing multi-claimant policies, loss ratios, premium history and claims history in order to determine actions to be taken in line with Insurers expectations.

Responsible for processing the determined action on C360.

Responsible for the written communication to be processed for the determined action on C360.

Responsible for increasing premiums on C360 at renewal on selected policies.

Responsible for processing cancellations/voidance of policies as instructed by Insurers and processing of the relevant Santam and Aon letters.

Responsible for sending out multi-claimant/cancellation notifications to branches/teams in line with timelines stipulated by the Division/Team

Responsible for allocating Tasks to Client Managers for actions to be taken and follow up to ensure action completed.

Responsible for handling disputes with objective views, substantiate stance and negotiate (if possible) for best outcome for Insurers and clients.

Responsible for making sound policy screening decisions in line with Insurers Matrix.

Responsible for completing all allocations each month, and recording same on the production microsite.

Responsible for dealing with and responding to all queries, telephonically and/or in writing and recording same in Confidential comments on C360.

Responsible for reviewing policies on an ongoing basis.

Adherence to the minimum Quality and Service Standards laid down by the Division/Team.

Responsible for involvement in various new or ongoing projects within the team, including but not limited to testing on C360.

Responsible for learning from and supporting Product Managers as back up when required.

Responsible for Underwriting Manager responsibilities as laid out in the insurers Underwriting Acceptance Criteria / Guidelines.

Responsible for general administrative and ad hoc duties as required by management.

Responsible for engaging in business development and/or contributing directly or indirectly to all business development efforts in Aon South Africa.

Qualifications.

Skills and experience that will lead to success
  • Grade 12. (Matric).
  • A relevant insurance related qualification.
  • Registration with the FSCA in terms of the FAIS ACT.
Knowledge.
  • Sound knowledge of technical underwriting principles and practices of personal insurance.
  • Advanced knowledge of the Aon bespoke policy wordings, limits, excesses and underwriting acceptance criteria.
  • Knowledge of the insurance market trends and an awareness of risk events in South Africa and globally.
  • Ability to consider risks and apply underwriting acceptance criteria or guidelines for motivation of acceptance to Insurers.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills (if needed, attend Intermediary/Advanced Excel course)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word.
  • Proficient on C360 policy administration system.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.

Experience.
  • A minimum of 8 - 10 years experience in personal lines underwriting, administration and client servicing.
