Mechanical Superintendent

Duties & Responsibilities

Leadership and Supervision
Manage and supervise a team of mechanical engineers, technicians, and maintenance personnel.
Provide training and development for staff to maintain high levels of competency and safety.
Plan and coordinate daily activities and work assignments for the mechanical team.
Maintenance and Repairs
Oversee the maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of all mechanical systems and equipment.
Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
Ensure all mechanical repairs are conducted safely and in accordance with company policies and local regulations.
Safety and Compliance
Ensure all mechanical work complies with South African safety standards and regulations, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act(OHS Act)
Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of mechanical systems and work practices.
Maintain records of all inspections, incidents and corrective actions taken.
Technical Support
Provide technical expertise and support to resolve complex mechanical issues.
Stay updated with the latest advancements in mechanical technologies and industry best practices.
Liaise with external contractors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies as necessary.
Documentation and Reporting
Maintain detailed records of mechanical maintenance and repair activities.
Prepare and present regular reports on mechanical system performance, issues, and improvement plans to senior management.
Ensure all mechanical documentation is accurate and up to date, including schematics, manuals, and logs.
