Job Description
- Draft and negotiate various contracts and documents and support the organization operationally and/or commercially (including with customers, subcontractors and other stakeholders).
- Serve as in-house subject matter authority on all operational and commercial legal issues which impact the business.
- Coordinate with regulatory and governmental authorities, customers, counterparties, and other colleagues.
- Ensure that effective contract management, dispute resolution, processes and procedures are developed, implemented, and continuously enhanced to protect the company.
- Oversee the preparation and monitoring of the Legal Department's annual budget.
- Continuously review the department's policies, processes, procedures and work plans in order to identify and recommend improvement opportunities.
- Bachelor's degree in law. Relevant postgraduate/ professional qualification in law will be an added advantage.
- Admitted as an Attorney in South Africa.
- At least 10 years of relevant professional experience, dealings at senior, executive management and/or board level providing legal advice and strategy.
- Good understanding of the telecoms business and regulatory environments (property related).
- A mix of private practice and in-house experience preferred as well as strong ability to manage outside counsel.
