The South African National Council for the Blind (SANCB) is inviting applications for a National Coordinator of Provinces to join their Team.
Job Location: Pretoria, SANCB Head office
The Job: to:
Co-ordinate Social Inclusion Officers, Provincial Support Officers and Social Inclusion Support Officers by:
- Keeping informed of the legislation relating to development of Youth, Women and Sport.
- Facilitating long range planning for the above three areas of focus.
- Monitoring implementation of Youth, Women and Sport programmes at the provinces.
Enable empowerment of blind and partially sighted people by:
- Coordinate training of youth and women through Start and Improve Your Own Business (SIYB).
- Promote placement of blind and partially sighted women and youth in the open labour market in collaboration with Job Placement Office.
Facilitate Community Development Programme by:
- Ensuring that blind and partially sighted women and youth receive advocacy and lobbying skills through relevant training.
Co-ordinate South African Blind Youth Organisation(SABYO), South African Blind Women In Action (SABWIA) and Sports Development by:
- Facilitate capacity building of SABYO and SABWIA.
- Organise South African Blind Youth Organisation (SABYO) activities.
- Organise South African Blind Women in Action activities.
- Facilitate involvement and participation of blind and partially sighted people in sports and their relevant organisation.
Manage projects by:
- Promoting the use of Project Management as the best management tool in project development.
- Using phases of development which include needs analysis, objectives, design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation as a pathway of project development in Self-Help Groups.
The person: Qualifications:
- Grade 12 plus Community Development /Youth Development Diploma/ N6/ Degree.
- Project Management Certificate.
- Candidates who are youthful women (under 35) will be given preference
Experience:
- Computer literacy (MSWord, Excel, Internet Explorer and E-mail,)
- Knowledge of Pastel.
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
- At least four years’ experience in women and/or youth development work.
- Knowledge of project management, communication and people management skills.
- Strong Knowledge and experience in monitoring and evaluation (Proven track record).
- Training in Committee work - compilation of agendas and minute writing a prerequisite. A valid Driver’s Licence is a prerequisite except for the visually impaired and persons with Disabilities.
