Purpose Statement

To ensure the accurate and timely reconciliation of Nostro accounts by identifying, investigating, and resolving discrepancies between internal records and correspondence bank statements, thereby safeguarding the banks cash position, ensuring financial integrity, and supporting regulatory and operational compliance.

Experience

Minimum:

• 2-3 years experience in Financial Services, with exposure to
• Banking/Finance GL and Reconciliations
• Systems / Nostro (in case of systems reconciliation)
• Forex / Global Markets

Ideal

• 3+ years experience in a banking and/or Forex environment, of which 2 should be in a Reconciliation role.

Qualifications (Minimum)

• A relevant qualification in Accounting - Financial Accounting or Commerce

Qualifications (Ideal Or Preferred)

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting - Financial Accounting or Commerce

Knowledge

Minimum Knowlege

• Knowledge of Operational Risk
• In case of general reconciliations:
• Code of Banking Practice, FICA & Money laundering Act.
• In case of systems reconciliation
• Nostro reconciliation and investigations knowledge
• Knowledge and compliance with Company Policies and Procedures & legislation including SA Reserve Exchange Control regulations, payments, standards, cut-off times, etc.
• Knowledge of accounting and reconciliation processes knowledge and understanding of Accounting and Reconciliation concepts (understand entries and be able to do account reconciliations).
• Strong understanding of Forex divisions and operations, including FX deal origination, trade execution, confirmations, settlements, reconciliations, and regulatory compliance processes.
• Knowledge of:
• Basic BaNCS
• TCS
• SWIFT
• SAP

Ideal Knowledge

• Banking Policies and Procedures
• BaNCS / BaNCS Treasury
• Knowledge of Nostro recon processes (general reconciliation)
• Knowledge of Forex/Global Markets environment
