Role purpose:
Development of strategic priorities and business development opportunities for Vodacom Group.
Your responsibilities will include:
Evaluate merger and acquisition opportunities.
Responsible for the assessment of potential mergers and acquisitions, including, performing quantitative and qualitative analysis.
Develop M&A proposals.
Assist with the preparation of M&A proposals for board/exco review and decision
Liaise with Vodacom Group M&A team, with internal technical specialists (legal, tax, etc.) and operating company business line leaders, as necessary.
Agree proposals to be escalated with ME: M&A
Facilitate discussions and workshops with the various OpCo leaders to develop strategic M&A plans.
Evaluate disinvestments.
Evaluate selected disinvestment proposals based on internal directives.
Analyse financial statements of potential acquisition targets
Lead or assist with due diligence of potential target acquisitions.
Lead or assist the deal team through the deal negotiation process.
Develop the disinvestment proposal.
Together with the M&A team, prepare the disinvestment proposal liaising with Vodacom business heads, internal technical specialists, and business heads, as appropriate.
Develop detailed financial and valuations models.
Customers, Suppliers & Third parties
Engagement and contracting of external parties.
Partner with business
Activity drives the operating company's strategy in executing value-enhancing transactions.
Be part of the engagement model in the operating companies and be the first point of contact within the operating companies for any M&A-related activity
Prepare presentation materials for various executive meetings.
Follow the governance process to obtain the required approvals to execute the deal.
Provide input into internal presentations, Exco reports, Board reports and other pieces of analysis on an ad-hoc basis.
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
Minimum of 8 years experience in a financial role, corporate finance, investment banking or financial services.
Post Graduate degree, preferably MBA or CPA
Technical / Professional Expertise
Corporate finance/advisory experience coupled with tax and legal knowledge
Working knowledge of economics
Knowledge of national policies, regulations, etc., affecting mergers and acquisitions (socio-economic policies, BEE environmental laws, Competition Commission, etc.) plus knowledge of current affairs.
Must be able to model cashflows and prepare executive-level presentations.
