Job Overview
To be responsible for the purchase of non-production materials and services for Daimler Trucks Southern Africa. The buyer will be responsible to procure the highest quality of goods and services at the best value for the organization whilst maintaining equitable and transparent purchasing processes in compliance to the Company's Integrity, Anti Bribery Codes, Conflict of Interest Policy, Safety, Health, Environment, Risk and Quality requirements and to perform delegated SHERQ tasks and duties & to inform superior about deviations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Business Unit enhancement: Participate in the formulation of global commodity management strategies, for non-production materials, services and responsible for local defined National Buy Strategies.
- Purchasing Performance: Responsible for the procurement of cost-effective non-production materials and services; responsible for cost optimisation and transparency throughout the supply chain. Participate in the execution of the department operational targets.
- Supplier Management: Interacts with global and local vendor community and the Purchasing Services network (IPS/GPN) to develop long term relationships and thus achieve long term targets as set in the EBSC. Conduct vendor price negotiations in accordance with IPS Services targets.
- Quality Assurance: Interact and support cross-functional processes for materials and services, and support group operations through ensuring an uninterrupted flow of non-production materials and services.
- Knowledge and Innovation: Initiate and facilitate supplier development by employing new technologies and processes as per the supplier minimum requirements; suggest changes in accordance with BBBEE codes of practice as defined by the DTI.
- Preferential procurement: Responsible for preferential procurement (PP) reporting, analysis and forecasting for DTSA. Continuous monitoring of PP performance. Maintaining and improving PP score. Providing guidance to management when required on improving performance.
- Internal control system (ICS): Responsible for the performance, maintenance, and reporting of ICS controls on the ICoM system. All ICS controls to be assessed and evaluated timeously during the Initial Self-Assessment (ISA) and Final Self-Assessment (FSA) periods.
- Matric/Grade 12 plus 3-year relevant qualification (Degree in Purchasing) (B Com/B-Tech) or equivalent.
- CIPS advantageous
- 3 to 5 years' experience in a specialized field (Purchasing/Supply Chain /Project Management/ Logistics/ Marketing/ IT).
- Computer literacy (MS Office, SAP/R3, Lotus Notes).
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to negotiate on all levels.
- Understanding the new BBBEE codes.
- Courses in: Purchasing, Logistics, Supply Chain, Accounting, Business Operations, Economics, Statistics, Project Management (added advantage).
