We're looking for someone to join our User Experience (UX) team, helping us build world-class financial products for a mobile-native generation. Sanlam Indie looks, feels and works like a startup, but has the backing and expertise of a leading South African insurance and investment giant - Sanlam.

What will you do?

As a Product Designer at Indie, we'd like you to help us create great customer experiences with user-centred and visual design principles on web. Youll be working in conjunction with designers while collaborating with stakeholders such as the marketing team, product owners and tech teams to identify problems and design appropriate solutions.

Youll most likely be doing the following most of the time:
  • Effectively communicate your designs to developers and other key stakeholders.
  • Conduct industry research and stay up-to-date on best practices.
  • Assist with and sometimes conduct, observe and analyse usability testing sessions.
  • Develop standard UI components and contribute to the design system.
  • Use various techniques such as sketching, user flows, low fidelity prototypes and wireframes to ideate and communicate interaction and design concepts.
  • Produce high quality polished UI design solutions such as responsive website designs and applications.
  • Create clickable prototypes to demonstrate and communicate the interaction of your design solutions.
  • Mentoring and coaching other designers.
  • Support the QA team to make sure features are implemented as intended.
  • Present designs to stakeholders, solicit and process feedback.

  • Youre a self-starter, you find what needs to be done and do it.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, and ability to present work to stakeholders.
  • A willingness to extend yourself and assist other team members.
  • When it comes to design, you care as much about what it is and how it works, as you do about what it looks like.
  • The idea of incorporating user feedback, data-derived insights and research into your design process excites you more than youd like to admit.
  • Ability to innovate and develop out-of-the-box solutions to complex user interaction problems.
  • Strong presentation skills and the ability to explain design decisions in a convincing manner
  • You are an expert in the craft of both UX and UI for websites and web applications
  • You contribute to the design system
  • You are able to assist with and sometimes plan, conduct or observe usability testing sessions.
  • You are expected to provide a greater contribution to cross functional meetings
  • You are able to present and articulate clear rationale for your design decisions.
