Product Manager

Remote / Cape Town

As the direct report to the leader of product development, your primary responsibility will involve organizing and overseeing the product's strategic planning, development, prioritization of features, support, testing, and release timeline. In an Agile setting, you will collaborate closely with the software development team.

Key Responsibilities Of The Position
  • Work closely with the Product Development Leader and develop a deep understanding of the products Business strategy, product vision and stakeholder objectives
  • Design and maintain the Product Lifecycle
  • Understand key market drivers and user needs
  • Own the Product Roadmap and collaborate with the Product Development Leader to align this with business objectives
  • Leverage BA and data analysis skills to evolve product requirements, understand challenges and market opportunities
  • Translate business strategy and user needs into Product Functional Requirements which are strategically aligned and prioritized to meet business goals
  • Oversee the integration of the product across multiple platforms (such as the mobile application and conference-style events)
  • Serve as the voice of the products business for the Lead Architect and the software development team
  • Nurture a close working relationship with the development team and project manager, working within a fully Agile environment
  • Be accountable for the creation and delivery of the product in accordance with the product roadmap milestones
  • Translate functional requirements into a prioritized set of technical specifications, including new features and changes to existing features
  • Work closely with the Project Manager to maintain a prioritized backlog, including the scoping of Epics, Features and User Stories
  • Represent the product during, and actively contribute within, Sprint demo and planning sessions
  • Solve Product Related challenges and communicate product needs to stakeholders
  • Ensure that appropriate testing protocols are in place, including managing UAT within the business
  • Collaborate with the client service and support team to pro-actively identify and solve user challenges, as well as contributing to the appropriate level of automating technical support
  • Liaise with the User Experience team regarding the design and prototyping of UX
  • Coordinate the product release schedule internally and with the development team
Requirements:
  • A bachelors degree or equivalent in a computer science or related technology field BSc. Degree essential
  • A minimum of 8 years of total work experience
  • At least three years of experience as a product manager or in a product ownership role
  • Work and project experience across diverse domains
  • Fostering a close working relationship with technical teams and have the ability to interact on both a technical and human level is required
  • Understanding web application architecture
  • Familiar with SDLC best practice to optimally grow and maintain a mature product within the market
  • Demonstrated BA and data analysis experience
  • Agile product management and SCRUM experience, and the ability to flexibly reprioritize strategically valuable features in line with market requirements
  • Maintenance and updating of product documentation
  • Ability to write, speak and present information to a high degree effectively and persuasively
  • A working understanding of Azure Devops is an added advantage
  • Foundational software development and or coding experience is an added advantage
  • Experience within the field of people development and/or HR is an added advantage
