Job Description
Sovereign, a national supplier of quality chicken products to various markets with operations in five provinces, is seeking 2 thorough and committed individuals for the position of Designate Production & Operations Manager for its Hatchery operations in the Agriculture division. The Designate Production & Operations Manager is responsible for meeting the companys budgeted requirement of excellent quality chicks at a budget cost. This position reports to Production and Operations Manager and holds the TASK Grade T12. The ideal candidate must be in possession of a tertiary degree in an agricultural or commercial field and have a background in the field of agriculture on a tertiary level.
Responsibilities
- Cost control through limiting and reducing all forms of wastage through optimal utility recording and management.
- Understanding and analyzing the monthly Hatchery Operational and Maintenance cost and the impact of our business on the overall day old chick price.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the Hatchery Standard Operating Procedures Manual, coupled with rigid adherence to the identified best practices.
- Manage supply chain from receiving of eggs to placement.
- Daily update and circulation of Placement Schedule DOCs with internal and external hatcheries and contract farmers.
- Communication of Delivery vs Invoice issue for Northern placements with Internal and external Hatcheries and Contract Farmers.
- Good analytical skills and able to take corrective action
