What We'll Bring

The main purpose of the Project Manager is to plan, organize and lead projects and deliver them to time and to budget within the delivery framework as prescribed by the PMO; engage the relevant resources, ensure accurate reporting, and manage risks, issues and dependencies.

What You'll Bring
  • Work closely with clients, third parties, business and operational teams to understand their requirements, developing effective working relationships and ongoing management processes for the projects and service delivery.
  • Create and execute realistic and achievable project plans.
  • Manage day-to-day operational aspects of the project.
  • Manage, monitor and motivate the cross functional teams assigned to the project.
  • Project manages within the TU delivery framework as governed by the PMO.
  • Adaptable enough to take on several roles to "get things delivered".
  • Prepare project communications to keep stakeholders up to date with progress.
  • Creation and management of project plans, resource schedules and financial reports; with focus on creating realistic schedules and plans for self and others to follow.
  • Evaluate risks and develop strategies to overcome project obstacles.
  • Identify and implement appropriate quality standards to ensure project quality.
  • Assume responsibility for schedule adjustments, costs, and project modifications.
  • Ensure the project knowledgebase is captured, current and stored appropriately.
  • Resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion.
  • Manage Requests for change ensuring the project deliverables and timelines are not adversely affected.
  • Liaise with the assigned project teams to coordinate change, building, testing and implementation.
  • Track project progress against plans and produce progress metrics and reports;
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the role of our regulators and their powers e.g. FCA and ICO
  • Ability to use standard Microsoft products to a high standard, including Excel, Word, Project, Visio, SharePoint;
  • Ability to define and articulate a comprehensive and actionable project of work, resolving potentially complex resource and infrastructure inter-dependencies across multiple teams and systems;
  • Innovative in their problem-solving approach, generating several different fit-for-purpose options and/or approaches, also being cognizant of the risks and implications
  • Makes decisions independently, within area of responsibility without unnecessarily referring to others
  • Welcomes change, is empowered and works with colleagues to identify ways of achieving improved results through flexibility to working style and approach;
  • High standard of written and oral communication skills, communicating appropriately and credibly at all levels across the company, including senior management;
  • Prepares robust and influential business cases(s), understanding the needs of all stakeholders

  • Sound analytical skills, capable of clearly identifying and solving problems proactively;

  • Completer finisher and risk identifier and manager

  • Competent user of Microsoft Project
  • Good Experience of managing suppliers and 3rd parties; and
  • Good understanding of Project Management Methodologies such as PRINCE2, PMI, APM, P3O, Agile etc.
  • Knowledge of the markets in which TU operates
Impact You'll Make

It is a requirement of the Global Capability Centre Africa that you reside in a home that is fibre ready; and has space for you to be able to work comfortably and confidentially on a day-to-day basis for the purpose of your proposed employment.

A Minimum of a 100 Meg Fibre line is required, should you be successful, you will need to upgrade your line in order to work effectively.
