Job Description
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To create a safe and secure environment for students, academic staff, support staff, contractors and visitors (Campus Community) at the North- West University through management and control of team members, response to reported incidents and informing management accordingly.
Key Responsibilities
Communication and Stakeholder Relations
- Communicated effectively with all clients regarding PS through encounters at their different deployments
- Assist and ensure compliance with the NWU Potchefstroom Campus safety and security strategies
- Assist and ensure compliance with the NWU Potchefstroom Campus safety and security regulations and standard operating procedures.
- Ensure that crime, incidents and information are attended to.
- Ensure that crime information received is reported to the control room and necessary documents are completed.
- The daily delivery of a safe NWU Potchefstroom campus community by executing daily patrols and access control.
- Ensure compliance of service providers deployed at the access points reporting any deviations.
- To act in the best safety and security interest of NWU Potchefstroom Campus Community.
- Conduct access control function(s) effectively.
- Regular consistent radio and telephone communication.
- Ensure that all faults and deviations are reported timeously.
- Efficient locking and unlocking buildings.
- Effective incident management.
- Effective alarm management
- To ensure that physical crime prevention measures are conducted within regulations and policy directives.
- Adhere and ensure service level agreement(s) compliance between NWU Potchefstroom Campus Protection Services and relevant
Disaster Management
- Compliance to allocated functions from the disaster management plan to ensure immediate response to relevant disasters.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders an incident response and management plan of catastrophic incidents.
- Ensuring the protection of university property and life against fire hazards and other safety risks.
- Ensure the deployment of Special Events in accordance with relevant legislation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication (by radio and telephone) skills to effectively function within a multicultural and multilingual environment.
- Understanding of campus security protocols and procedures.
- Knowledge of access control systems, patrol procedures, incident response, and emergency protocols
- Familiarity with university security policies, SOPs, and disciplinary codes.
- Ability to conduct foot and vehicle patrols effectively.
- Ability to write accurate, factual, and chronological incident reports.
- The proven ability to work with precision under pressure

- Must be able to function in a team context especially during unrest or other situations that may arise.

- Grade 12 (NQF Level 4).
- PSIRA Grade A certificate.
- Valid driver's license
- A minimum of one (1) year Security Industry experience at a Higher Educational Institution.
- Code C1 drivers license
- More than three (3) years Security Industry experience at a Higher Educational Institution.
