The hospitals core services include cardiology, cardio thoracic surgery, spinal surgery, orthopaedic surgery, general surgery, ear-nose and throat surgery, specialist physicians and the following paediatric services general, neurological, cardiology and gastroenterology services.
We currently have a vacancy for a highly skilled and motivated Registered Nurse to join our dynamic surgical team in the Spinal Theatre.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage sterile surgical environments for spinal procedures.
- Scrub for spinal surgeries and assist the surgical team as required.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols.
- Ensure accurate instrument counts and efficient handling of surgical equipment.
- Provide holistic patient care and support during perioperative phases.
- Ensuring accurate charging by managing theatre clocking time.
- Ensuring consignment stock, equipment and prosthesis is charged according to the policy.
- Managing stock by participating in regular stock taking and controlling of the consignment stock in accordance with the hospital (local) policy.
- Obtaining the correct information pre operatively and visiting the patient post operatively.
- Ensuring that the patient is comfortable and assist the doctor during surgical procedure.
- Current registration with SANC as a Registered Nurse.
- Theatre experience, with proven scrub experience in spinal procedures preferred.
- Strong knowledge of theatre protocols and sterile techniques.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
