Key Responsibilities:
Scanning Operations:
- Ensure all incoming and outgoing shipments are scanned and documented accurately.
- Use handheld scanners to track and record the movement of pallets and inventory within the facility.
- Assist in real-time stock updates by scanning products into the warehouse management system (WMS).
- Maintain high-quality work through proper documentation and verification of barcoded products during intake and dispatch.
- Coordinate with forklift, reach truck, and PPT operators to ensure correct pallet scanning and efficient movement.
- Identify and report damaged or incorrectly labelled pallets.
- Assist in detecting, segregating, and isolating non-conforming products with quality defects.
- Work closely with warehouse staff, drivers, and supervisors to maintain an efficient workflow.
- Assist with general warehouse duties.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, IT security and hygiene regulations.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain scanning equipment and report any malfunctions immediately.
Education:
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 1-5 years of operating experience, preferably in a cold storage environment.
- Experience in the fruit export industry is preferred.
- Proficient in using scanning devices and data entry software.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data handling.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving and time management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, cold storage environment.
- Good communication skills in team environment.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately to achieve daily performance goals.
- Ability to read and understand shipping and intake documents, and safety guidelines.
- The role requires working in a cold storage environment.
- Ability to perform manual labour.
- Flexible to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays as needed to accommodate the nature of the fruit industry.
