THE FOLLOWING VACANCY EXISTS IN OUR FLEET DEPARTMENT

(ABLE SEAMEN DECK)

AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY: The Deck and Bridge onboard a Freezer Trawler or Fresh Fish Trawler

LOCATION: Fishing vessel Trawling

REPORTS TO: Deck Officers

Job Purpose

• To assist with vessel deck & fishing operations
• Assist with lookout duties.

Job Dimension

• Assist with rigging requirements.
• Assist with net rigging & repairs.
• Assist with splicing of wires and ropes when required.
• Assist with lookout duties when required.
• Assist with factory operations.
• Assist with any other deck activities, i.e cleaning, painting, crane operation, chipping, routine maintenance of deck and rigging equipment.

Knowledge Required

• In possession of a SAMSA Able Seamen COC
• Medically fit to work at sea.
• Proof of Seafarer Medical Certificate (valid or expired)

Skills & Abilities

• Interpersonal skills
• Good Communication skills
• Ability to work with wire, rope, nets & rigging blocks.
• Crane operation
• Look out knowledge.
