Security Specialist

Eastern Cape, East London

Hourly (Market related, Negotiable)

We are recruiting a highly skilled Cyber Security Specialist on behalf of one of our clients within a reasonable travel distance from East London. This role is focused on safeguarding critical information systems, identifying and mitigating ICT security threats, and implementing robust security measures to protect the organizations digital assets. The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in information security, security infrastructure management, and policy development.

Key Qualifications And Experience Required

• A Degree or National Diploma in Computer Science or Information Systems OR Grade 12 with at least 10 years of hands-on experience in information security
• At least 5 years of experience in information security
• ISACA CISM (Certified Information Security Manager) certification is required

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in Windows Systems Update Management and Administration (WSUS)
• Extensive experience in Microsoft Virus and Threat Protection Management
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server Security Management
• Expertise in Firewall Management and VPN Management (specifically ECDoH)
• Experience with ICT Security Threat Management, identifying and mitigating potential risks

Functional Skills

• ICT Policy Development and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Strong background in Information Security Governance and Cybersecurity
• Experience in Information Risk Management and the development and management of Information Security Programs
• Ability to handle Information Security Incident Management and lead incident resolution efforts
• Enduring documentation is kept up to date
• Experience in customer interaction for fault resolution and providing training on new or modified applications.
• Collaborate with Business Teams, Application Support, and IT Teams to address security-related issues
• Ability to train users and ensure they are up-to-date with security protocols
• Independent worker (plan, organise and control own work effort including regular process feedback to own areas and other relevant areas)
