Lead strategic brand and product portfolio management to drive category growth, consumer engagement, and market leadership in a highly competitive beauty and personal care environment.
This role combines brand strategy, innovation leadership, and digital-first marketing execution across multiple markets.
The remit of the role will be to devise and execute the marketing strategy in line with the global and regional marketing strategies, including a strong digital, social media and influencer strategy.

The preferred candidate will be expected to be involved at all levels from conceptualizing, developing marketing strategies to acting as the day-to-day guardian of the categories.

The job requires a hands-on approach given the variety of tasks on the portfolio to deliver exceptional results.

The position will be responsible to the personal care team through the delivery of strict KPI tracking as well as developing and executing strategy.

Were looking for someone who has:
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing or Equivalent (MBA advantageous)
  • Minimum 5 years marketing experience of which 2 years should be in a Senior Marketing position
  • Experience working within a global multi-national organization
  • Demonstrated analytical capability, commercial acumen, and ability to translate insights into strategy.
  • Proven leadership in integrated campaign planning and managing sizable A&P budgets.
  • Digital-first mindset; fluency in digital analytics tools, CRM, or Mar Tech platforms, experience with e-commerce and social-commerce preferred.
  • Exceptional project management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Brand-building tools: P&L management, pricing models, trade marketing strategies.
  • Familiarity with regulatory/claims compliance in beauty.
  • Exposure to Africa-wide brand rollouts or multicultural market complexity.
Collaborative track record working with agencies and research partners.

Job Description:

Build & Manage Marketing Plan
  • Responsible for developing the Fragrance Portfolio strategy including key priorities, innovation grids, competitor overview, brand advertising and new product overview
  • Responsible for the development of the annual marketing plan
  • Preparation of the total A&M budgets (plus ROI) and control allocation of funds between categories / brands.
  • Together with the commercial team develop innovative and value-added marketing promotions with the objective of maximizing sell through and presence in store
  • Working with agencies to adapt / develop advertising, media and digital strategies to drive awareness and affinity
  • Together with brand awareness, pull together the influencer strategy by category or brand including PR plans to support key launches
  • Own the overall look and feel of your category / brands in store including planogramming
  • Following approval of brand plans follow the stage gate process from ideation to execution and at the required stages align with sales on the forecast plus plan considering the following:
  • o COGs, Pricing and Gross Margin (should be accretive)
  • o Completion of Revform
  • o Pre dispatches (where necessary)
  • Review and recommend changes in product pricing relative to competitive price structures but within financial policies and budgets.
  • Review regular business costs and recommend changes based on value analysis studies to keep costs in line with sales and profit guidelines.
  • Manage SKU forecast and ensure that all forecasts are in line with established budgets.
  • Review P&L statements, analyze them in relation to budget and provide input in formulating future budget.
  • Prepare & present Sales Cycle Presentations every quarter for upcoming launches and activities.
  • Prepare & present Retailer Strategy Presentations twice per annum detailing product merchandising, pricing, deals, sales targets, timing, samples, advertising etc.
  • Assist the training academy in presenting the brands products and advise on usage.
  • Analyze sales history of all SKUs to establish lines to be discontinued/retained and calculate lost sales implications resulting from discontinuations.
  • Deliver on time and in full sell-in decks and samples for Sales team
  • Process Efficiency
  • Adhere to the S&OP process to ensure both Bias and MAPE targets are met
  • Ensure all innovations follow the S&OP, stage gate and IDM process
  • Manage portfolio size and productivity and reviewed on an ongoing basis to always ensure productivity / profitability.
  • Ensure that all discontinued items are managed via the slow moving and obsolete (SLOB) process with minimal to no write off
  • Closely interface with global to ensure that we have a robust pipeline and ensure that all local market needs are considered.
  • Category ownership, understanding and Review
  • Brief agencies on Media and creative requirements and managing the agency relationship
  • Together with Marketing Director sign off on the creative layouts, photography, messaging, tone of voice for all launches and promotions and ensure the plans in general out market the competition and create stand out in the marketplace
  • Propose and sign off the category planogram together with planogram agency and trade marketing each quarter.
  • Digital and social media Responsible and accountable for brands look and feel (in accordance with global guidelines) on social media (best in class ahead of key competitors)
  • Accountable for reviewing Market Share Trends with in-depth analysis on drivers of growth or decline
  • Based on the Market Share and Monthly P&Ls prepare contingency plan business case(s) to course correct performance gaps
  • Closely liaise with commercial both in field and head office including regular presentations to sales team (conference / quarterly meeting)
Matrix Relationships and Interfaces
  • Responsible for integrating, aligning, and building strong relationships across operations, demand planning and sales
  • Responsible for integrating and aligning with Regional & Global teams to agree innovation plan and raise any Market specific needs etc.
KPIs for success in this role
  • Market Share Growth: Achieve targeted share increase in core categories.
  • Revenue & Profitability: Deliver annual revenue and margin targets for assigned brands.
  • Innovation Delivery: Launch X new products per year on time and within budget.
  • Brand Equity: Improve brand health scores (awareness, consideration, NPS).
  • Campaign ROI: Achieve minimum ROI benchmarks for ATL and digital campaigns.
  • Digital Engagement: Increase social engagement and e-commerce conversion rates by X%.
  • Compliance & Governance: 100% adherence to POPIA, CPA, ARB, and internal policies.
  • Team Development: Maintain high engagement scores and succession readiness.
