Reporting to the Logistics & Transport Engineering Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Initiating and implementing new logistics engineering projects across the supply chain for the Takealot group
- Working cross functionally with the Distribution Centre (DC) Operations and Takealot Delivery Team (TDT) to optimise total logistics cost and delivery lead-time
- Initiating new logistics projects within the Takealot logistics network to reduce labour cost and improve efficiency Reducing material handling & packaging cost through engineering projects within the DC
- Benchmarking with other retailers and e-commerce businesses to improve operations and reduce logistics cost
- Initiating continuous improvement projects within the Takealot logistics network
- Manage and execute logistics tenders with 3PL service providers on both the inbound and outbound logistics network
- Facilitate tenders for Supply Chain logistics packaging and material handling equipment
- Reducing and optimising the inter DC logistics network and hub network costs
- Working collaboratively with TDT to optimise the Takealot outbound supply chain network. This includes the analysis to develop and implement new hubs, the required size for existing and new hubs based on projected volumes, hub relocations and Takealot pickup points to ensure sufficient capacity in the Takealot network
- Support the submission of the Takealot Logistics Budget with regards to Fleet, Pickup points, Hub Network expansion, Capex projects and other related items
- Compile and present feasibility studies for new expansions and initiatives in the Takealot supply chain.
Qualifications:
- BEng degree, preferably Industrial or similar related degree
- High level of proficiency with MS Office packages with proven advanced proficiency in MS Excel
- At least 7-10 years' experience within Supply Chain, Planning and Logistics Engineering field
- Simio Fundamentals Training Certificate - or similar simulation software accreditation
- AutoCAD Fundamentals training certificate - or similar simulation software accreditation.
- Attention to detail with a curious mind
- Strong self-starter

- Ability to work collaboratively with external stakeholders to develop logistics engineering solutions
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
