Senior Manager: Ferries (Government)

Requirements
- Relevant Engineering/Marine degree/diploma
- Engineering background with experience in marine engineering operations
- Ten years Marine experience of which five years experience must be in middle management
- Post graduate degree in Engineering/Marine preferred
- Excellent communication skills and ability to liaise at various levels
- Strong analytical, strategic and creative problem solving skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment managing multiple projects and tight deadlines
- Good project planning and organizing skills
- Ability to function independently when required, act proactively and participate in a strong team environment.

- To ensure all company vessels and staff are compliant with the relevant maritime legislation.
- Strategic Planning

- To improve the current ferry operating model.
- Provide oversight on ferry procurement.
- To develop a maintenance plan for all vessels.
- To implement effective control and communication systems within the department.
- To provide the necessary management and technical advice and expertise where needed.
- To advise and provide oversight on all marine related issues within our clients operating environment.
- Ensuring that best talent is recruited and retained for the ferry department
- Ensure that relevant training is carried out for development of personnel and to keep ferry employees up to date on current best practices.
- Ensuring the maintenance plan and relevant management systems are implemented.
- Overall responsibility for supervising general maintenance issues on all vessel.
- Overall responsibility for the upkeep of all vessels to a high standard.
- To ensure the ferries operate efficiently and effectively.
- Responsible for ensuring safe transportation of the tourists to and from the island.
- To ensure the ferries are kept and operated in a safe and complaint manner.
- To take responsibility for budgeting and planning of the ferry department expenses.
- To monitor expenses and ensure our client is getting Value for money.
- To provide a Capital expenditure plan for vessel procurement.
