About the role
As the Senior Network Engineer you will form an integral part of the Companys technical team and be responsible for the design, deployment and maintenance of the Companys wireless network infrastructure.  You will play a key role in ensuring that the network operates efficiently, meeting the demands of our customers, and delivering a seamless internet experience.

What you will be doing
  • Network Design and Deployment:
  • Collaborate with the network planning team to design and implement wireless network solutions tailored to specific locations and customer needs.
  • Conduct site surveys and analyse the best radio frequency (RF) coverage for optimal network performance and reliability.
  • Deploy and configure wireless equipment, including access points, radios, backhaul links (fixed and wireless) and network switches.
  • Network Monitoring and Maintenance:
  • Monitor the wireless network infrastructure using network management tools to identify and address performance issues, bandwidth utilisation, and security threats.
  • Proactively identify and resolve network outages and performance bottlenecks to ensure uninterrupted service for customers.
  • Implement firmware upgrades, patches, and security updates for network equipment.
  • Troubleshooting and Technical Support:
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot network connectivity, hardware and software issues reported by customers or internal teams.
  • Provide timely and effective technical support to customers, ensuring prompt resolution of their network-related problems.
  • Collaborate with the customer support team to escalate complex issues and provide solutions promptly.
  • Network Security and Performance Optimisation:
  • Implement and maintain robust network security protocols, including firewall configurations and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
  • Optimise network performance by managing traffic, bandwidth allocation, and Quality of Service (QoS) settings.
  • Regularly conduct network performance analysis and capacity planning to accommodate future growth.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Create detailed network documentation, including network diagrams, configuration files, and system documentation.
  • Prepare regular reports on network performance, incidents, and maintenance activities for management review.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field (or experience equivalent).
Industry certifications such as CCNA Wireless or higher, CCIE, or similar are a plus.

Required Skills and Experience
  • Proven experience in designing, deploying, and maintaining wireless network infrastructure for an ISP or similar environment, this will include ISP Core and Open access networks including Layer 2 and 3 switching and routing, peering, content caching and public IPv4/IPv6 queries and providing support for network faults and issues raised by the NOC (Network Operations Centre).
  • Detailed knowledge on routing protocols (BGP, Static and OSPF).
  • In-depth knowledge of wireless technologies, protocols, and standards (e.g., 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax, WiMAX, LTE, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking, routing, and switching protocols.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools (e.g., Zabbix, NetFlow, PRTG, etc.).
  • Experience with configuring and troubleshooting network devices, including routers, switches, and wireless access points.
  • Experience with Mikrotik, Juniper, Ubiquiti, an dCisco hardware.
  • Solid understanding of network security principles and best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills , with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to scope ISP network requirements nationally.  Including peering, Caching, NAT, BGP, PPPOE and Radius.
  • Scripting & coding - BASH, Python, YAML, etc.
  • Basic Linux systems administration.
  • Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model.
