Key Purpose
Develop client and advisor communication templates . Collaborate with business analysts and business to produce high quality client and advisor communication suitable for print, email and online portal. Facilitate timely production release of various Report templates.

Responsibilities
The Developer is responsible for the development of all outgoing communication to policy holders and advisors. These include, policy schedules, welcome packs, anniversary letters, product fact files, credit control letters etc. which are sent via post, email and viewed online on the Vitality UK website client and advisor portal. The responsibilities of the Template Developer are, but not limited to the following;
Template Source Code
- Implement the technical solution using the relevant development language or tool (FOP, XML, HTML, Ecrion)
- Produce template code by applying the Vitality UK technical standards, and ensuring all potential conditional elements are catered for. Update the scheduling tool with progress
- Consult with Senior Template Developer and Systems Support Team on technical issues encountered
- Transform the template source code and the sample data into a functioning template as per the business requirements
- Construct robust, maintainable, scalable, optimally performing system code in line with technical specifications, following prescribed process, standards and procedures
- Deliver within agreed timeframes
- Conduct unit testing and fix any defects found
- Configure notification as per specification
- Ensure synchronicity is maintained between environments
- Advise user on go-live process
- Liaise with team member to document issues
- Deploy templates to live environment
- Plans and implements releases, troubleshoots and provides support as required
- Actively participates in peer reviews, providing insightful observation and guidance, addressing coding problems in a clear and respectful manner
- Assist user in investigation of template and notification related issues
- Escalate issues to the team members or Business Analyst
- Differentiate between fixes & enhancements and advise user on process accordingly
- Respond to incidents escalated by the System Support team or by Business
- Conduct preliminary analysis on issues and find effective solutions
- Takes ownership to identify, locate and competently fix faults and provides the necessary root cause analysis and recommendations
- Selects appropriate design standards, methods and tools and ensures they are applied effectively
- Is competent in working with monitoring tools, interprets the detail and monitors supports production and non -production platforms
- Facilitate meetings and guide discussions with regards to any new template design and or projects where new communication is required
- Ability to field complex questions and engage at a high level in their area of specialism
- Ability to negotiate and resolve conflicts, issues and change requirements that complex in nature or have significant impact on the solution and outcome
- Ability to communicate clearly, constructively and effectively
- Easily able to follow and participate in technical, business process, and other discussions
- Able to build business relationships with other members of team and the business areas we support
- Reviews the systems designs of others to ensure selection of appropriate technology, efficient use of resources and integration of multiple systems and technology
- Proactively create learning opportunities (developer forums/ case studies) to help develop skills and knowledge with in the Template development Team
Education
- Matric
- A Bachelors Degree or Diploma in Computer Sciences/ Information Systems or equivalent IT tertiary qualification
- Knowledge of SDLC, Unit Testing, and Technical Change Control processes
- HTML, XML, and FOP technologies
- Software development within SDLC
- Business Writing
- Data modelling
- Understanding of our internal systems would be advantages (SAM/DIscribe/ Notification Engine)
- At least 3 years or more experience in source code development
