Position: Senior Systems Technician
Based in Empangeni
Salary: R25000 - R28000 CTC
My client requires a senior systems technician with skills and experience in:
• General administration skills (for end user support and office infrastructure) include: ◦ Linux ◦ Windows ◦ Apple
• Linux system administration ◦ Installations, maintenance and security updates ◦ Web server (Apache & PHP) ◦ Database server (MariaDB / MySQL) ◦ Other services (DNS, FTP, Mail, ssh, etc.)
• Automation & tools ◦ Strong scripting skills in at least one language (Bash, Perl, PHP, Python, etc) ◦ Use of software revision control
• Networking ◦ Configuration & troubleshooting e.g. wireless, routing issues, tcp/ip issues etc ◦ Security (Firewall, etc) • Planning & analysis
◦ Agile methodologies ◦ Backups and disaster recovery ◦ Capacity planning ◦ Performance and reliability analysis and tuning ◦ High availability ◦ Disaster recovery ◦ Documentation for all processes and infrastructure
• Communications & team work ◦ Ability to explain technical problems to non-technical people ◦ Skills exchange with other members of the team ◦ Candidate’s English to be first-language level
• Management ◦ Candidate will manage one junior technical resources (already skilled in the company)

• FreeBSD
• Apple OS X
• Cloud computing (AWS, Linode, OpenStack)
• Virtualisation
• Clustering
• Deployment tools
