SENIOR TECHNICAL SALES EXECUTIVE

International Manufacturer and distributor of world class air management and lighting control systems since 1990 seek a Senior Technical Sales Executive/Trainer/Installer/Commissioning Engineer  to market their new cutting-edge technology Automated Lighting System wich runs of a tablet or smart phone. Your Job will be split/multi-functional position and your role will comprise of:

  • Sales and Sales Support, 30%
  • Training of staff and customers, 10%
  • On the job training at installations and audit of installations, 20%
  • Project work relating to jobs, quoting/pricing, checking designs, checking orders, 20%
  • Technical work, on-site commissioning, 20%

The role has a strong technical focus and the individual will do hands on technical work at installations as well as sales as part of their job.

The right individual for this role will share our passion for cutting edge smart home technology whilst possessing a complete understanding of domestic & commercial lighting.

We are looking for a lighting sales expert who loves what they do and wants to be a part of something big. Travel the world and light the way for our exciting, award winning products.

This individual will experience high-pressure situations, especially when things go wrong. It is therefore paramount that this individual by nature is a calm person and is comfortable maintaining a high-standard of work even when things don’t go to plan.

Other responsibilities include (but are not limited to) sales, product training, designing of solutions, quoting and auditing installations.

In summary, the effort allocated to the duties and responsibilities for this position are as follows;

  • Organizing sales visits. Cold call on engineering consultants, interior design agencies, architects and lighting professionals to get our solutions specified for Projects.
  • Ensuring that sales targets are met. Achieve quarterly sales targets through cold calling and marketing activities.
  • Identifying and establishing new business. Develop new leads in niche industries.
  • Writing reports and sales literature. Manage client database and assist in preparation of sales documentation, brochures, catalogues and industry events.
  • Responsible for development and delivery of product demonstrations. Set up daily showroom visits for customers and third party consultants and conduct demonstrations.
  • Design and implement Light control technology and accurately implement indoor and outdoor luminaires.
  • Provide post implementation support and assistance to customers and consultants.
  • Providing product education and advice. Provide support and training for internal staff.
  • Research into competitor technology & solutions. Keep up-to-date on latest products and technology changes.
  • Provide feedback to the engineering team on these changes.
  • Research into complementary technology applicable to what we do.
  • Responsible for representing the product to customers in meetings and at field events. such as conferences, trade shows and seminars.
  • Able to respond to functional and technical requirements in RFPs.
  • Able to convey customer requirements to Product Management teams.
  • Able to travel throughout sales territory (RSA).

This role would suit an individual who is already in a senior sales position within the lighting industry.

Below are the minimum skills required to be successful in this role;

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of LED lighting technology and control systems.
  • Existing lighting network and contact database in the Western Cape.
  • 3 years’ experience in the Lighting/Electrical Engineering Industry.
  • Good communicator and able to present at senior level.
  • Outgoing, self-motivated with great listening skills
  • Comfortable & competent with technology
  • The ability to provide outstanding customer service
  • Exudes passion and drive
  • High emotional intelligence, personable and calm under pressure

Below are the qualifications necessary for the individual to succeed as the Senior Technical Sales Engineer.

Qualifications:

  • Degree/BTech/Nat Dip
  • Lighting or Electrical Engineering Degree/BTech/Nat Dip
  • initially, this role will require the individual to be very hands-on with installations and will suit someone who does not mind getting their hands dirty. This will include working outdoors, on building sites, working with challenging clients and working in roof spaces.
  • This role may also present some physical demands from the individual such as lifting heavy objects, climbing into a tight roof space and working with their hands.
  • As mentioned, this part of the job will form a lesser part the overall job requirement once their experience increases and dealer knowledge matures.

The probationary period will be followed by an invitation to join Advantage Air in full time employment.

Full time employment will commence with 2 weeks training at Head office in Perth.
