Business area and role
As a Senior UX Designer, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the effectiveness and impact of our design initiatives at Xceptor. Working closely with the Head of UX and your colleagues in the UX Design team, you will independently lead projects aimed at strategic improvements with the product. This role requires a seasoned generalist designer who can work autonomously, bringing both experience and confidence in driving design processes and collaborating effectively with product managers, developers, and other stakeholders.
You will work within Xceptor's 'Tribe' structure, which integrates UX design early in the development process to define problems collaboratively. In this role you'll be key part of a project focusing on transitioning our legacy systems to a cloud-based software as a service platform. As well as considering the overall SaaS product user experience, this initiative includes progressing a key feature: an intuitive UI hub for users to build processes efficiently. You will be instrumental in prototyping, collaborating closely with developers and ensuring the design solutions are both user friendly and feasible. This role is critical in aligning the UX strategy with business goals and ensuring our products are both valuable and technically achievable.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently lead the research, solution design, prototyping, and testing stages within your development team(s).
- Collaborate closely with product managers, developers, customers, and other stakeholders to understand user journeys and design effective solutions, clearly articulating design decisions and collaborating effectively.
- Assist in growing and optimizing the UX team, including leading team meetings and workshops.
- Mentor UX designers in finding solutions to complex challenges and ensure the use of effective processes and methodologies.
- Promote UX best practices through talks, workshops, and educational materials.
- Bachelors degree in design, human computer interaction, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Four plus years of experience in UX design with a strong portfolio showcasing user centered design solutions.
- Experience with prototyping tools, especially Figma, and techniques to derisk and validate design concepts.
- Strong collaboration skills, experience of working closely with developers, product managers and other stakeholders.
- Experience in conducting usability testing and incorporating feedback into design iterations.
- Familiarity with designing for cloud-based platforms and understanding of SaaS environments.
