Job Title: Shariah Manager
Reports To: Shariah Head
The purpose of the role is to advise, direct, review and supervise the Islamic operations of the FirstRand Group, under the guidance of the Shariah Head, to ensure that these operations are conducted as prescribed by the FirstRand Shari'ah Advisory Committee (SAC)

Shariah Governance
- Prepare reports and meeting packs for SAC meetings
- Prepare minutes for SAC and other Shariah-related meetings
- Oversee implementation of rulings issued by the SAC
- Monitor and ensure compliance with Shariah principles in all business activities
- Review contracts, agreements, and transactions for Shariah compliance
- Conduct regular audits and reviews and report on the findings to the Shariah Head/SAC
- Conduct Shariah research on various financial products and services
- Collaborate with product development teams to create Shariah-compliant financial products
- Ensure that new products and services adhere to Shariah principles
- Present products to the SAC for approval
- Provide Shariah advisory and guidance to all relevant stakeholders
- Review marketing material for Islamic products
- Attend meetings as and when required
- Conduct training sessions for staff on Shariah principles and compliance
- Promote awareness of Shariah compliance within the organization
- Maintain relationships with Ulama bodies and other key external stakeholders
- Aalim Faadil or Bachelors Degree in Shariah
- In-depth knowledge of Shariah jurisprudence and Islamic finance principles
- Iftaa certification is preferred
- Bachelors degree in finance, accounting, auditing, law or another relevant field is preferred
- Certified Shariah Advisor & Auditor (CSAA) or equivalent certification is preferred
- Experience in Shariah compliance within the banking or financial sector is preferred
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
- Strong analytical and research skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Computer literacy
