The overall purpose of the position is the responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the cold store, continuous improvement of processes and effective management of staff to ensure the required delivery strike rate to all customers, in-so-doing complying to company policies, procedures and applicable laws. The role aims to delight customers with exceptional service levels while ensuring stock management principles are strictly adhered to eliminating any wasteful activities while managing stock in the ERP to ensure the operational and financial control environment and reporting structures are timeously managed. Safeguarding of the stock holding and maintaining the cleanliness of the facility to world class standards is a key success factor of this role.
Key Requirements For The Position
- Minimum Grade 12 with relevant Supply Chain / Warehousing qualification will be a great advantage
- Minimum of 5 years experience in end-to-end supply chain, with a focus on processing, wholesale and retail environment
- 5 years experience in logistics, warehouse, cold storage, stock control and administration experience within the FMCG environment
- Microsoft Office (MS Internet Explorer, MS Outlook, MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Excel)
- MS Excel at an advanced level (able to generate pivots, conditional formatting, V-Look-ups, SUMIF, Dashboards, Charts understanding waterfall charts, overall in-depth of formulae and data analysis)
- Vantage Mobile logistics planning system
- INFOR LN system, or any other ERP system experience
- MyChep pallet and lug management system
- Responsible for physical and financial system stock control of finished product stock at Internal and and External Cold Storage facilities
- Report back on a daily, weekly and monthly basis to Management on all operational related activities.
- Responsible for internal and outbound logistics function to and from the Cold Store including co-loading, ensure that all stock movements are controlled, thereby ensuring compliance to County Fair / Astral Operations policies and applicable laws are adhered to
- Management of subordinates and coordinating functions thereby ensuring accurate and timeous holding of the correct stock at all times across all shifts
- Managing the integrity of stock through ensuring that all stock movements have the required paperwork (managing the administration function through the allocated resource)
- Ensuring that the required stock cycle counts are performed accordingly, in conjunction to monthly stock counts that must be in accordance with policies and SOPs
- Manage relationships with service providers
- Ensure service levels to internal (Epping / Hocroft / Outside Cold Storage facilities) and external (retail / wholesale / trade) customers, > 98% on-time delivery strike rate
- Enforcing best practice via implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and management of entire staff complement accordingly
- Report to management on daily / weekly / monthly logistics / distribution issues and opportunities for improvement via KPI measurement and reporting, assisted by using 20 Keys
- report on cold store operations highlighting exceptions and continuous improvements initiatives

- Generating relevant reporting reports that ensures proper management of the Cold Store
- Assist management with monitoring and reporting on activities and performance of the 3 PL service (DP World / Hestony)
- Preparation of budgets and targets for the Cold Store
- Monitor and manage operational expenditure within approved budget
- Ensure effective utilization of staff on all shifts within the department
- Experienced in warehouse operations activities, material handling equipment, warehouse systems and pallet management software.
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills;

- Must be numerate and literate (apply mathematics calculations)
- Able to communicate well in both English and Afrikaans languages
- Must be honest, self-driven, responsible and able to use own initiative
- Ability to work under pressure and swift resolving of employee and management queries;
- Basic understanding of the 20 Keys concept is essential;
- Must be able to work independently and cope well under pressure;
- It is essential that the successful candidate be self-motivated with the ability to meet strict deadlines.
