Revenue Accountant

A leading importer and distributor of toys and hobby products with offices in Salt River, Cape Town, is actively searching for a candidate who has completed their articles to join the team as a Financial/Revenue Accountant, working alongside the Group Financial Manager.

If you want to jump to something more interesting than a regular accounting career, then this position is for you.

A portion of the time the candidate will be required to assist with the accounting functions of the business but this will not be their primary focus. In this position, you will work closely with the business's Revenue and Cost Management side and it requires an analytical Professional Accountant (SA), or AGA (SA).

The right candidate for this position can expect to gain a wealth of experience in the workings of import, distribution, toy, and hobby products and an excellent understanding of the respective retail environment.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring sound financial and administrative management
• Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations
• General bookkeeping and regulatory reporting
• Management of account receivables and account payables
• Managing staff in the Finance Section
• Ability to work quickly and efficiently within a pressured environment
• Generate balances up to Trial balance and Balance sheet
• Reconciliation of Supplier statements
• Preparing VAT returns
• Tax and VAT submissions and compliance
• Processing the salary journal from the payroll
• Filing and keeping of all records needed for the annual audit
• Assisting the auditor during the annual audit
• Monthly analysis and review of the balance sheet
• Monthly forecasting of cash outflows and balance sheet closing balances
• Support the Group Financial Manager to review, measure, and report on actual budgets, and forecasting to provide feedback and advice on deviating performance

Experience & Qualification

• Completed SAIPA / SAICA articles (or soon-to-be-completed)
• BCom Accounting / B. Accounting
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Drivers license and own transport

Salary

• R20 000 - R25 000
