Sous chef needed

Sous chef is needed at Manhattan Hotel Pretoria.

Job responsibilities:

  • To ensure all menus are constantly updated, paying special attention to seasonal availability.
  • To ensure that all menus are correctly calculated to ensure maximum gross profit.
  • To ensure that all staff is constantly trained to affect good portion control and pleasing presentation of dishes.
  • To ensure that sufficient stocks of all materials are being kept and stored under the correct conditions.
  • To liaise with management daily regarding special requirements, VIP’s functions, etc.
  • To ensure that all statutory hygiene requirements are diligently followed;statutory health and safety procedures are being followed; maintenance problems are promptly reported; attendance registers are kept daily and that any absenteeism is reported to Management.
  • All Chefs will be rotated in Kitchen
  • To ensure that reports and administration requirements are timorously submitted.
  • To ensure all staff are dressed correctly according to statutory requirements as well as enhance the image of the hotel.
  • To constantly update your knowledge and skills for the good of the hotel.
  • To assist with regular stock takes as and when required.
  • To ensure maximum security in all areas under your control and that staff are fully aware of the emergency procedures.
  • To ensure that staffing levels are correct and to agreed standards and are not exceeded without prior consultation.
  • To hold regular performance appraisals with staff, identifying areas for development and training needs and ensuring that his training is affected.
  • To attend financial and sales meetings when called upon.
  • Ensure no staff are employed or terminated without correct authorization and in accordance with the correctly laid down disciplinary procedures.
  • May be called upon to perform other duties not mentioned above as this job description only outlines the primary functions of the job.
  • Recommend innovation or attention to food standards.

Job requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Well-mannered, amazing and professional attitude
  • Excellent with time management
  • Driven, honest and focused individual that can manage themselves and their time and be excellent at multitasking.
  • At least two years’ experience.
  • Own transport.
  • Well-groomed with a confident strong personality.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Must be able to work shifts and extra hours when needed.
  • Excellent contactable references a must and no cell phone numbers will be accepted.
  • Must be able to undergo a pre-employment interview with forensic specialists
  • Competitive salary will be depending on your hotel experience.
  • Current proof of salary will be required at 1st interview.
  • Only SA ID holders will be considered for interviews.
