Academic Standards Manager

The client is an educational body that provides global British education. As Academic Standards Manager, you will be responsible for providing academic learning, teaching and assessment development and support to Accredited Partner Centres in your assigned region in the delivery and assessment of the full portfolio of the organisations qualifications and teaching and learning programmes. You will be responsible for programme delivery and assessment support, by monitoring academic performance of Accredited Partner Centres and supporting other departments in the organisation. You will manage the accreditation and induction of Accredited Partner Centres and monitor their on-going compliance with Academic Regulations and requirements set out by the relevant regulatory bodies. Permanent, hybrid, mostly work from home with occasional office visits in Paarden Eiland. R28600 dependent on experience

Key Responsibilities
  • Delivery of staff development courses at Centres and online
  • Dissemination of good practice both generic and module specific
  • Lecturer observation and evaluation
  • Practical support for the delivery of programmes by Centres
  • Proactive follow-up with Centres and academic staff
  • Develop supporting materials and training courses to assist academic staff in the delivery of programmes
  • Training of other members of staff in the delivery of the developed supporting materials and training courses
  • Supporting Qualification and Programme Development by providing feedback to the Product department on lecturers experiences with existing modules and programmes
  • Gaining feedback on proposed developments to specific programmes, modules and general teaching materials from lecturers
  • Ensuring academic performance of Centres by monitoring the performance of students and teachers, consequently identifying problems, developing action plans and handling feedback accordingly
  • Making or contributing to decisions on exemptions, direct entry/APL, and extension requests, in liaison with colleagues, and maintaining auditable records of such decisions
  • Management of accreditation through visits, associated paperwork and annual/periodic centre monitoring
  • Induction of new Centres
  • Training new Centre staff on processes and systems
  • Undertaking risk based annual Centre monitoring
  • Liaising with Ministries of Education and Regulatory Bodies, and supporting the relevant Regional Director in ensuring regulatory requirements throughout the region
  • Investigating cases of malpractice and maladministration at Centres
  • Functioning as a member of the regional team, providing academic input on regional strategy
  • Academic, quality assurance and administrative duties as and when requested
  • Supporting current Centres to grow candidate number
  • Developing the Centre to offer a pathway of programmes which allows candidates to progress on to other internal or partner programmes.
  • Communicating new product development with the Business Development Manager and internal staff where appropriate. The above is not an exhaustive list of duties as the role may change to meet the overall objectives of the department.

  • Knowledge of academic matters [desirable]
  • Knowledge of UK higher education sector [desirable]
  • Knowledge of quality assurance bodies [desirable]
  • Experience of supporting international students and partners [desirable]
  • Demonstrate experience in creating, planning and delivering training [desirable]
  • Fluency in English [essential]
  • Fluency in another language would be advantageous [desirable]
