Strategic Sourcing Specialist

Role Summary

The main responsibility of the Strategic Sourcing Specialist is to ensure the procurement of segment specific products and services, contributing to Scanias performance by continuously improving the Technology, Quality, Delivery and Cost focusing on Sustainability (TQDCS). This is achieved by conducting activities based on Procurement Area and segment strategies and aligned with Market Plan.

Job Responsibilities
  • Work according to the Local Procurement Process and overall objectives and follow Global Purchasing Strategic Plan, Sourcing Process Blue Arrow, Procurement 2000
  • Follow the Global Purchasing Strategic Plan as well as the BU market plan by actively engaging in commercial activities.
  • Support and contribute towards achieving all KPIs decided in the Purchasing Market Plan
  • Implement and follow up activities decided in the Purchasing Market Plan
  • Implement and develop a preferred Supplier base
  • Support the implementation of Contracts
  • Initiate need for new Contracts
  • Challenge corporate solutions in coordination with responsible Global Purchaser
  • Reduce the total cost for Scania
  • Responsibility for - the agreed Quality is delivered - that the supplier meets the agreed lead time and capacity - that Cost targets are achieved
  • Update and maintain commercial activities information in the Global reporting file necessary to manage and control the Blue Arrow Process
  • Support and control the internal customer in the purchasing process and guide towards preferred supplier
  • Coordinate BU Procurement Area Activities into the Local Procurement Team
  • Make necessary decisions to accomplish the mission in accordance with decisions made at management meetings, laws, regulations and other established guidelines
  • Conclude commercial agreements with suppliers within approved investment and approved cost of the product/service
  • To execute decided strategies and supplier structure within a concerned responsibility
  • Within area of responsibility minimise risk for working environment, harm caused by one's environment or quality deviations
Education and Experience required:
  • Matric, plus relevant purchasing tertiary qualification
  • Minimum 7 years experience of strategic sourcing and purchasing
  • Experience of cooperation with internal customers and demand management
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Good cooperation ability and understanding of local business culture
  • Good English skills, both written and spoken
  • Good communication- and coordination skills
  • Strong planning and analytical skills with focus on details - Good command of MS Office package
  • Open-minded, proactive and well organized
  • Able to work on own initiative and under pressure
  • Problem solver, not afraid of tackling difficulties
  • Customer, quality and goal-oriented
