Description:

As a Buyer you will contribute to the continued growth of the Superbalist Menswear department. You will be responsible for the Private Label Menswear category within this department. Your primary accountability is to build balanced range assortments through procuring products in line with the department strategy.

The Role
  • Be accountable for ensuring the Superbalist Customer is at the heart of everything that we do.
  • Be first to market by obsessively monitoring global and local markets as well as external resources to deliver the best of fast fashion that drives sales growth, and also entrenches Superbalist as the fashion authority in South Africa.
  • Collaborate with planning to strategically build balanced range assortments for the customer across brands. Analyse, action and self-manage your OTB. Monitor Stock, sales, margin and assortment to ensure delivery of KPI's. Collaborate with planning to strategically build balanced range assortments for the customer across categories.   • Use internal and external trend sources to confidently compile and present quarterly product strats, range reviews and post seasonals to retail heads, supported by sales, customer and trend data.
  • Manage the product process from showings, to briefing, intake, studio and go live on site. Manage the product process from range building, supplier briefing, order raising, manage deliveries, liaise with studio to ensure product go live on site timeously.
  • Build and maintain strong brand relationships to negotiate best price, great value offers and exclusive stock in line with company strategy.   • Always be on the look out for new and upcoming brands to be added to our assortment both locally and internationally. Always be on the look out for new trends to react to for an improved assortment offering sourcing from both our locally and internationally suppliers.
  • Using source of supply to procure products based on global trends in line with department strategy to produce world class, balanced, locally relevant fashion assortments.
  • Ensure critical path timelines are adhered to. Be proactive in flagging potential stock and delivery shortfalls.
  • Compile weekly trade feedback reports through consistent analysis and interpretation of data that show how you will trade your range in-season to drive sell-through and reduce markdown. Present to your manager every Monday.
  • Support the customer team in delivering a world class customer experience in product delivery & service.
  • Manage and mentor assistant buyers within your team, creating a cohesive, results driven environment to support optimal performance and personal development.
  • Be proactive and innovative in all areas of your role to ensure maximum efficiency is achieved.
Key Requirements
  • Matric (grade 12) exemption
  • Relevant Diploma or Degree in Fashion or related field
  • 4+ years' experience in retail industry
  • Previous Menswear buying experience in Private Label buying is essential
Key Competencies
  • Competency in MS Office packages specifically in excel
  • Knowledge and understanding of retail maths
  • Proven ability in analytics & logical interpretation of data
  • High level of organisational skills
  • Resilient, dedicated and self-motivated
