System Administrator - Video Management

As a System Administrator specializing in Milestone XProtect and CCTV systems, you will oversee the management and maintenance of our video infrastructure. Your role ensures the reliability, security, and scalability of Milestone XProtect VMS and CCTV systems while collaborating with internal teams and clients to deliver tailored security solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Video Management System (VMS) Operations:
• Install, configure, and maintain Milestone XProtect VMS and related components.
• Perform regular updates, patches, and upgrades to enhance performance and security.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in Milestone XProtect and other VMS environments.
• Monitor system logs and performance metrics to proactively address potential issues.
• Ensure sufficient capacity to support business growth.
• Analyze and optimize VMS usage, developing plans for continuous service improvement.
• Provide recommendations to stakeholders on VMS optimization and utilization.
• CCTV System Integration:
• Integrate CCTV cameras, encoders, and devices with Milestone XProtect VMS.
• Ensure compatibility and functionality across CCTV components.
• Collaborate with vendors to implement new CCTV technologies and upgrades.
• Security and Access Control:
• Implement robust security protocols for Milestone XProtect and CCTV systems.
• Configure user access controls to protect sensitive data.
• Monitor system logs for security breaches and anomalies.
• Client Support and Training:
• Provide timely technical support to clients, resolving inquiries and issues.
• Conduct training for clients and staff on Milestone XProtect and CCTV systems.
• Documentation and Reporting:
• Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations and changes.
• Generate reports on system performance, incidents, and improvements.
• Strategic and Technical Contributions:
• Evaluate Milestone XProtect against competing VMS products and recommend future product strategies.
• Assist the Datacentre Administrator in optimizing server infrastructure for video processing.
• Stay updated on video analytics trends and technologies.
• Troubleshoot end-to-end VMS issues (camera, network, server, software).
• Create job aids (e.g., troubleshooting checklists, implementation flows) for stakeholders.
• Adhere to configuration and change management policies for network infrastructure changes.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 certificate.
• Video Management System vendor certifications, preferably Milestone Certified Integration Engineer (MCIE).
• Minimum Microsoft MCSE or equivalent certification with Microsoft SQL Server.
• Degree or Diploma in Information Technology (advantageous).

Experience

• 5+ years in an IT role.
• 5+ years with Microsoft Windows Server.
• 3+ years in Microsoft SQL Server administration.
• 3+ years in PowerShell scripting.
• 3+ years in Linux Server (preferably Ubuntu) administration.
• Working knowledge of server and storage hardware.
• Strong understanding of network protocols for video surveillance systems.
• 5+ years with Milestone XProtect VMS.
• 5+ years with IP video surveillance cameras (Axis, Hikvision, Dahua).
• 5+ years administering video analytics systems (preferably iSentry).
• Experience with other VMS or third-party integrations with Milestone XProtect (advantageous).
