System Operations Analyst

Our client, a well-established institution, is seeking the services of a Senior System Operations Analyst. This role is suited for a seasoned IT professional to focus on system operations and performance. The team supports complex enterprise platforms used across a wide user base, and this role plays a key part in making sure those systems continue running at their best.

As the Senior Operations Analyst, you will be diving into system performance analysis, issue resolution, and continuous improvement with a balance between hands-on work, collaboration, and strategic input. In addition to monitoring dashboards, this contract role is suited to someone who is analytical, innovative, inquisitive and wants their work to make a measurable difference.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with technical and functional teams to define system goals and troubleshoot recurring issues
• Analyse system data to monitor performance, prevent failures, and recommend improvements
• Build models, reports, flow diagrams or specs that help guide implementation or optimisation efforts
• Research and evaluate new tools, upgrades, or architecture improvements
• Test new and updated systems in collaboration with end users
• Document methodologies that make it easier for others to build on your work
• Offer informal guidance to junior team members or peers when needed
• This is a hybrid position. You'll need to work effectively from a stable remote setup, but also attend in-person meetings when called for; typically based on team rhythm or project needs

The Ideal Background Includes

• Relevant experience in system operations, analysis, or technical business analysis
• A solid understanding of how enterprise systems function, including databases, performance tuning, and systems integration
• Experience with data extraction, reporting, or visualisation tools
• The ability to turn technical findings into structured outputs that drive decisions
• Comfort working across technical and non-technical teams, and a proactive, detail-driven mindset

Experience And Qualifications Required

• A degree (NQF 7) in computer science, information systems or a related field and 18+ months experience as a System Operations Analyst, or similar; OR
• A relevant diploma (NQF 6) and at least 4 years experience as a System Operations Analyst, or similar; OR
• A certificate or equivalent qualification (NQF 4-5) with 8+ years in similar roles
