About The Role
The Leadership, Learning & Talent Partner holds a dual mandate: driving group wide agenda on leadership development, talent reviews and succession planning, while also serving as the regional Learning Partner for South & East Africa. The role partners with senior leaders, TCBPs and functional heads to diagnose capability needs, strengthen leadership effectiveness and build healthy talent pipelines. Operating with a consulting mindset, this role designs and delivers high-impact leadership pathways, executes Group talent processes, and supports regional capability building. The role requires structured project management, strong stakeholder engagement and the ability to work independently across multiple markets.
Responsibilities
Core Mandate Overview
- Group Role: Leadership capability, talent reviews, succession planning, organisation-wide leadership programmes.
- Regional Role (South & East Africa): Local capability needs, leadership development adaptation, talent partnering, culture enablement.
- Compliance & Accreditation: Support BBBEE Skills Development requirements and accreditation of learning programmes.
- Lead or co-lead enterprise-wide leadership development frameworks, manager capability programmes and high-potential pathways.
- Manage Group-level talent review cycles, including calibration, succession mapping, readiness assessments and development planning.
- Convert succession insights into measurable development plans, coaching pathways and exposure-driven readiness.
- Ensure alignment with Group leadership expectations, behavioural frameworks and organisational culture priorities.
- Use data and evaluation metrics to measure leadership programme impact and inform improvements.
- Provide strategic insight to Group HR and executives on capability risks, priorities and talent health.
- Act as the primary Learning Partner for South & East Africa, working closely with country leaders and HRBPs.
- Diagnose people and capability gaps across markets and design targeted learning and leadership solutions.
- Adapt Group leadership programmes for regional relevance, ensuring cultural and functional alignment.
- Support regional succession planning, HiPo identification and capability assessment.
- Facilitate leadership workshops, team sessions, culture activation engagements and learning interventions.
- Build regional leadership and talent pipelines through partnership with HR, leaders and external providers.
- Support the BBBEE Skills Development strategy by ensuring all learning initiatives meet the Skills Development scorecard requirements.
- Liaise with SETAs, accredited institutions and learning providers to ensure programmes meet accreditation standards.
- Maintain compliance documentation including attendance, learner evidence, provider accreditation, and training spend.
- Support the design and implementation of accredited learnerships, internships, youth programmes and leadership development initiatives
- Track and monitor Skills Development spend to ensure alignment with BBBEE targets and maximise claimable benefits.
- Prepare documentation and evidence packs for BBBEE audits, ensuring accuracy and audit readiness.
- Partner with Finance and Talent and Culture to ensure governance, reporting accuracy and compliance with audit and verification requirements.
- Conduct organisational and functional capability assessments to identify development needs.
- Partner with external providers to incorporate best practices and cutting-edge learning approaches.
- Ensure solutions strengthen leadership effectiveness, talent readiness, team performance and organisational outcomes.
- Lead structured project plans for all leadership and learning programmes, managing governance, documentation and timelines.
- Operate independently with strong organisation, prioritisation and delivery discipline.
- Drive continuous improvement using data, participant feedback, and business evaluation metrics.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to regional and Group leaders.
- Apply consulting and advisory skills to diagnose issues, structure insights and propose solutions.
- Present findings, recommendations and development data to leadership teams.
- Build strong crossfunctional and crossmarket partnerships.
Experience & Qualifications
- 710 years experience in Learning & Development, Leadership or Talent Management.
- Experience managing BBBEE Skills Development or SETAaligned programmes preferred.
- Demonstrated success in succession planning, leadership development and talent review processes.
- Experience working in multi-country environments, especially across Africa.
- Strong project management skills.
- Prior consulting experience (internal or external) strongly preferred.
- Bachelors degree in HR, Psychology, Business, Education or related field; Masters preferred.
