We are currently looking for a Corporate Tax Assistant Manager within our Corporate Tax Business unit in Johannesburg
Purpose Of The Job
The Corporate Tax Manager is responsible for delivering comprehensive corporate tax consulting and advisory services in the areas inter alia mergers and acquisitions, due diligences, private equity, dispute resolution and tax controversy as well as other tax advisory services. Additionally, the corporate tax manager will be responsible for assistance with the execution of go to market activities in line with the strategic objectives of the firm, as well as the end-to-end management of engagements with clients across sectors /industries. .
Key Job Duties Or Responsibilities
- Address complex tax related problems and inquiries
- Maintain confidential relations with clients
- Effectively manage relationships with the relevant local authorities
- Interpret and apply local income tax and tax administration laws (including keeping up to date with changes to legislation as well as new developments in regulations and case law)
- Provide and articulate complex recommendations regarding tax solutions
- Manage, lead and develop junior team members and professional staff
- Demonstrate strong project management skills, and initial review skills
- Manage the administration of tax engagement related matters
- Manage the maintenance of essential tax records, reports and files
- Prepare clear and accurate reports containing findings, conclusions and recommendations
- Achieve budgetary targets through effective work management
- Adapt to an evolving work environment and accommodate changing client demands
- Support the development of opportunities and collaboration across functions/units; and display relationship management abilities
- Oversee projects from initiation to completion (including risk and billings), and be able to work directly with the Partner or Associate Director in delivering a quality product on time
- Be able to identify risks and opportunities within existing client base and to secure new work.
- Contribute effectively to the discussions around work (knowledge sharing) and actively participate in generating creative ideas and thoughts

- CA (SA) or LLB; HDip (Tax); MCom (Tax); B-Comm Honours
- At least 4 years relevant experience in a corporate tax environment
- Proficiency of Word, Excel and Powerpoint
- Must have a wide range of corporate tax skills and experience including opinion writing, concept papers, compliance, due diligence reviews and dispute resolution
