We are a Telecommunications company based in Somerset west. We have a position opening for a qualified Fibre Technician.
Key Performance Areas
Establishes communications systems by installing, operating, and maintaining telecommunications network circuits and equipment. Serves customers by installing and servicing systems and products. Establishes networks by running, pulling, terminating, and splicing cables; installing telecommunications equipment, routers, switches, multiplexers, cable trays, and alarm and fire-suppression systems; building ironwork and ladder racks; establishing connections; programming features; establishing connections and integrations; following industry standards; activating remote access tools; coordinating with contractors. Give regular updates and feedback to Direct Manager.
List of qualifications, experience, training and competencies required for the job.
Qualifications
Minimum: Grade 12 and CFOT – FOA certification.
Ideally: Light current electrical engineering.
Experience
Minimum:
2 years’ experience in fibre installation, testing optical and electronic components.
Computer Literate.
Able to read Splice charts and drawings.
Sound knowledge of fibre technologies.
Able to provide accurate test result documentation.
Ideal competencies (any one of these):
1st Aid Training / Fire Fighting Training / Working at heights / Legal liability / OHS Act / HIRA or SHE Rep.

Code 8 Driver's Licence and Medical Fitness Certificate.
Ideally:
Advance Driving Course Certificate.
