The position of Senior Accountant has become available at Triton Express in Durban.
Responsibilities
- Processing of accounting transactions and journals
- Reconciliation of general ledger accounts
- Ensure timeous posting of all information to the general ledger, so as to comply with reporting deadlines
- Review of the monthly accounts for validity, accuracy and completeness of all transactions and ensure that they are posted to the correct accounts
- Perform monthly comparison to approved budgets and highlight any significant variances
- Preparation and distribution of internal financial statements and monthly management accounts
- Management and meeting of various deadlines
- Maintenance of general ledger accounts
- Preparation and reconciliations for year-end audit files
- Assistance with year-end audit
- Monthly preparation and submission of vat returns and reconciliations, ensuring deadlines are met
- Review and approval of daily payments in line with internal controls
- Support to operational teams and assisting them with solutions when required
- Responding to requests for financial information
- Compilation of budgets and forecasts
- Involvement of ad-hoc finance projects
- Analytical and operational accounting calculations
- Various administrative functions within the financial roles of the organisation, eg banking, CIPC, etc
- Ensuring cross border documents and information is supplied, where necessary
- Liaising with on the ground administrators
- Supply timeous, complete and accurate information for decision making purposes
- Ensure compliance to all financial legislative and regulatory requirements
- Understanding of accounting software and support to users
REQUIREMENTS:
- Understanding of IFRS and IAS
- Understanding of legislative and regulatory requirements of business
- Sound knowledge of Vat, Income Taxes and Payroll Taxes
- High level of proficiency as a user of software / accounting packages (preferably SAGE X3)
- Overall technical proficiency
- High degree of analytical and technical skills
- Advanced Microsoft Office knowledge
- Ability to travel when required
- Own transport to and from work and valid drivers licence
- Ability to manage themselves and their time
- Self-starter who requires little to no managing
- Strong attention to detail
- Team player

- No criminal record
- Demonstrates the ability to analyse and resolve problems
