Clerk: Warehouse & Transport Operations

Job Function:
To coordinate and control the quality of work activities of a team in various processes according to operational plans and targets. Is responsible for the site safety program and ensures that the environment supports the safety of all employees.

Key Accountabilities:
Store Communication:

• Provide information and visibility to Contact Centre and operations for query resolution.

Data Management:

• Ensure load status and progress update.
• Validate vehicle return schedule received from Execution Centre.
• Handover report at end of shift - highlight performance detail and any issues.

Floor Management:

• Check loading staff quantities are present.
• Spot checks on HU quality - damages, wrapping, stacking.
• Ensure loaders follow correct process and procedure.
• Ensure supervisors carry out instruction and follow process.
• Oversee agreed paper trail.

Plan Management:

• Prioritize loading/sequencing and allocation (issue loads).
• Communicate vehicle placement with yard controllers.
• Manage and report on loading productivity throughout the shift - ensure loading and operational targets are achieved.
• Compile dock door scheduling plan.
• Highlight issues on transport plan (utilization, drops, feasibility).
• Ensure HU quantities on transport plan are executed,
• Ensure balances are issued to load first.
• Highlight deviation to plan immediately.
• Vehicle availability management.
• Ensure vehicle docking and activity is managed and controlled.
• Communicate and advise planning department timeously as to when transport will be completed and executed.
• Communicate preloaded, dropped or carryover loads.

Qualifications:

• Grade 12.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Logistics, Transport Management or Dispatch & Receiving will be advantageous.

Skills and Experience:

• At least 2 years proper and similar experience in yard operation, dispatch environment, logistics operations and vehicle co-ordination and scheduling.
• Expediting experience is advantageous.
