The Product Manager strategically manages a portfolio of products for assigned industry segments, ensuring reliable and competitive product supply and achievement of targeted gross margins. The role also involves identifying new market opportunities in collaboration with suppliers.
Responsibilities
- Market knowledge and strategy development for segment
- Sourcing and Costing
- Execute supplier approval and vendor rating
- Negotiate (budget) volumes, price, contracts
- Implement pricing strategies
- Increasing exclusive supplier business
- Reporting - internally and to principles
- Identifying new suppliers for potential strategic products
- Provide product expertise, and define core product/supplier combinations, manage key contracts and suppliers.
- Ensure sustainable availability of products
- Optimise stocks and manage slow movers/obsolete stocks
- Support procurement department - forecasts to sales team
- Handle major complaints and claims
- Product performance reviews

- 5 7 years experience in a Product Management/Marketing function that includes managing complex and or significant Supplier relationships and key accounts (Agriculture/Mining/ Food/Pharma/Animal Nutrition industries/Water Treatment/Coatings & Construction)
- Experience in chemical industry/distribution preferred
- Ability to understand the complete commercial pipelines and resolve issues in area of responsibility.
- Strong knowledge of import / export, regulatory and logistics management
- Tertiary qualification in Business Management, Supply Chain, Analytical Chemistry/BSC or Related Field
