Role Clarification & Key Performance Areas
The School of Nursing in the Faculty of Community and Health Sciences has a growing reputation as a leading educational provider for both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The Faculty of Community and Health Sciences is seeking to permanently appoint a Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer within the School of Nursing.
Please note that this position is part of the Joint Establishment, which refers to a formal collaborative agreement between the University and the Provincial Health Department. The appointed individual will be expected to engage in both academic responsibilities and service delivery, as per the collaborative agreement with the Provincial Health Department. This includes contributing to the clinical service delivery component, in line with the requirements of the service delivery model.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key responsibility areas:
- Teaching and learning at an undergraduate and postgraduate level.
- Supervision of Masters level research if he/she holds a PhD.
- Participate in research
- Develop industry and academic partnerships.
- Engage in community outreach.
- Responsible for administrative duties within the department, faculty and the university.
- A Master's in Nursing or a Master's in a related Health discipline.
- Experience in teaching and clinical supervision.
- Evidence of publication output.
- Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse / Midwife / Community Health Nurse/Psychiatric Nurse.
- Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Nurse Educator.
- Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as an Assessor and Moderator.
- The ideal candidate for this post as lecturer should be a highly-motivated person progressing or registered for a PhD in Nursing.
- An additional qualification in a clinical speciality and/or Health Services Management
