We are looking for a well organised junior bookkeeper to be based in Mount Edgecombe, Durban.
Job responsibilities:
- The job profile would be to support the accounting department, reporting to the South African Branch Manager.
- Provide support for the daily, weekly and monthly accounting functions.
- Processing of foreign payments.
- Maintain general ledger accounts by monitoring journal entry preparation.
- Complete special projects giving insightful analysis as required.
- Updating and controlling operational assets.
- Submission of VAT returns.
- Ability to process bank statements, raise customer and supplier invoices.
- Assist with reviewing creditors - debtor's reconciliations prepared by the administrator.
- Preparation of balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Responsible for finance admin and filing.
- Assisting in preparation of the monthly dashboard reporting.
- Cross training with other members of the finance team to ensure adequate cover while employees take leave.
- Identifying cost savings and opportunities for process improvements within the business.
- Assisting the Branch Manager as needed with ad-hoc projects.
Job requirements:
- Must have good knowledge and experience working on an accounting software.
- Must have good knowledge and experience with VAT, budget analysis and cost control.
- Must be reliable, responsible and committed.
- Salary to be confirmed, depending on profile and experience.
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- BCom would be an advantage or a Diploma in Accounting.
- Minimum 3 years bookkeeping experience in a professional environment.
- Microsoft Excel advanced.
