My name is Luyanda Maema. I have a multi-disciplinary background wherein I have a BSc in Biological Science with majors in Biochemistry and Bioinformatics and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the university of the Witwatersrand. I am currently studying towards an LLM in Commercial and Business Law at Wits with the aim to be complete by 2024. I obtained a combined average of 74% in the LLB and I am confident that I will continue to produce great academic results. I have continued to engage in various extra-curriculars that have allowed me to grow personally and further develop my time management, written and oral communication skills; by way of demonstration, I worked as a writing consultant in the Wits Law School Writing Centre and as a First Year Experience Mentor. I have also engaged in some legal internships at MFS Africa, Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr, and DALRO. My legal experience so far has centred around Family Law at the Wits Law Clinic; Commercial Law and Intellectual Property at MFS Africa (now Onafriq); Employment Law at Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr; and Copyright Law at DALRO. That being said, I am very interested in broadening my legal knowledge so that I can be a well rounded legal practitioner. I am an analytical, hard-working, self-motivated individual. I maintain a highest standard and level of service whether working as an individual or in a team. I am flexible and open-minded, and I am confident that my well-balanced background makes me a highly suitable candidate.
